Abigail, a resilient five-year-old, faced a difficult start in life with a disability that her father couldn’t accept, leading to his abandonment. This left Abigail and her mother grappling with extreme poverty, relying on a small tomato vending shop in Nakawuka Katalemwa for survival.
Despite her mother’s relentless efforts, the harsh reality of their situation made it impossible to afford Abigail’s school fees and the specialized shoes she needed for mobility. In this challenging time, the Essanyu Lya Mukadde Wange Foundation stepped in as a beacon of hope.
With the foundation’s support, funds were raised to provide Abigail with custom-made shoes from the Mulago Orthopaedic Department. On February 11, 2024, Abigail received her specialized footwear, marking a significant step in her journey toward education and independence.
By February 19 2024, Abigail confidently walked into We Win Primary School in Katalemwa Cell. Her spirit remained undaunted by the obstacles she had overcome, and her dreams of becoming a surgeon shone brightly, driven by her unwavering determination to make a difference in the world.
