In honor of International Women’s Day and its theme, Invest in women: Accelerate progress, the Essanyu Lyamukade Wange Foundation teamed up with Inory Afros Natural Hair Salon to celebrate and uplift elder women in Nakawuka Katalemwa Cell.

The event kicked off at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome from Mukyala Zawedde, followed by a nourishing breakfast and engaging interactions. The focus then turned to a session led by Ms. Iryn, CEO of Inory Afros Natural Hair Salon, on hair maintenance, particularly addressing the effects of hair dyeing as one ages. Elders were encouraged to embrace their grey hair as a symbol of wisdom and experience, promoting self-acceptance and empowerment.

Following this enlightening discussion, the practical segment began, featuring hair washing, treatment, and trimming over a three-hour session. This part of the event highlighted that self-care is crucial to aging gracefully and maintaining overall well-being. True health involves more than just being free from illness; it encompasses cleanliness, self-respect, and holistic nurturing.

The day wrapped up at 3:00 PM, celebrating empowerment, dignity, and womanhood. By investing in the holistic well-being of elder women, we honor their contributions and advance towards a more equitable and inclusive society. This event underscored the significance of self-care and empowerment in fostering resilience and vitality among women of all ages.
